18 Memorable Pictures for 2018

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Trusting you all enjoyed a heartwarming Christmas, rich with family and friends.

This now quiet period between Santa’s arrival and the fireworks of New Year’s Eve I’ve found to be the perfect time to reflect back on the year in pictures. While many of you only know me through this website and journal posts, Private Newport is also a part of the world of Instagram (@PrivateNewport). This mobile phone app is, to  me, the equivalent of eating a chocolate sundae every day…simply a collection of inspiring, beautiful, compelling images, with relevant captions, that are posted each day by thousands of people . There are no political harangues, shout downs, one-ups or unpleasant interruptions (at least within my circle of friends).

One can quickly develop a following of like-minded virtual friends  who prove a great delight; the “likes” that each image receives is really a version of “the people’s choice.” And so, the following pictures represent the top favorites of Private Newport’s 2018 postings on Instagram.

Enjoy! And may your New Year be filled with endless possibilities, memorable experiences and an abiding sense of peace.

Wishing you and yours a Happy and Healthy New Year. . . .with Happy Trails (I’m still in my Montana mode after attending my youngest granddaughters wedding in Bozeman, Montana this past August).

    All the Best

    1. And Happy Trails back to you. Yeras ago I did a Bon Appetit story in Bozeman and fell in love with it! Lucky you to be there for a wedding…

  2. Hi Bettie, love your analogy of Instagram being a chocolate sundae! Thank you for providing these beautiful images. How did you learn photography?

Thank you for always sharing …

    1. Thank you, Yvette, that’s quite a compliment that you would find the time with 7 children.
The website Discover Newport and the Newport Historical Society would have information on home tours; then there are 2 garden tours under the auspices of “The Secret Garden,” one in June and the other in September. Hope you have a chance soon to return to Newport and bring your children (note: I did a blog awhile back on children’s to dos here). Cheers and thank you for your note, xBettie
