The cover of my first coffee table book, Private Newport: At Home and in the Garden, conveys in so many ways the sensibilities and design spirit of this post…shining a spotlight on rooms that represent their owner’s response to living in Newport, on the water.
Every time I look through these pages, I’m grateful that I was compelled to write and photograph Private Newport, for it captures a moment in time, 2002…17 years ago. Today, with two exceptions, the new owners of these homes have tailored the interiors to reflect their lifestyle proving again that the “progress” of a house is a natural evolution…which makes reflecting back all the sweeter and more meaningful.
Enjoy this trip down memory lane.
