Chasing Tulips in Sussex and Surrey, Part I

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Of course, as soon as I finish one garden tour, I’m planning the next. While the working title of this trip was affectionately named “Chasing Tulips,” it soon become apparent as I visited the first garden that it truly captured what was to be six glorious days in Sussex and Surrey (my traveling companion, Ruthie Watts, found this full title “a charming bit of alliteration”).

From Arundel Castle to Gravetye Manor, tulips are truly the stars of the late April English gardens. And, when you’re venturing to estates that might have 10 to 25 acres of planted areas, you have a treasure trove of inspiring ways to design with tulips.

So here are some high notes we enjoyed, to be explored more in-depth in upcoming posts.

And, a salute to King Charles on his coronation this Saturday.

Happy May…
