Oh, the color! The doorknocker design! The patina!  The shadowing!

While I’m usually not a fan of snakes…I must proclaim this doorknocker sssssimply ssssspectacular.

I adore arriving (and departing) under the watchful eye of a benevolent historic presence, something that has watched over many before me.

Behind these grand doors – nothing short of an actual red carpet.

What is more stately and sigh-producing than this doorway?  Perhaps the curved street and the curved neighbor?

The size of these doors.  The weight.  The detail.  Breathtaking! 

A papa door next to a baby door. Love that “French blue.”

Sneaking a peek inside this doorway, what do I see but…an enormous horse lamp, of course.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a see a drawbridge behind these arched doors.

In closing…just too dramatic not to include (though it’s from Langeais Castle in the Loire Valley…a hint of future stories.)
