Author and interior designer Holly Holden was introduced to me by my friend, Andrea, of the must-read blog, “Glam Pad.” It has been serendipitous getting to know Holly as we both share similar lifestyles and career pursuits (i.e. she is now working on a PBS series “You are Cordially Invited”; I was host and creative producer of “The Presidential Palate: Entertaining at the White House,” another PBS series). And this all started with her long interior design career which has recently prompted a YouTube venture, “Classic Design Channel.”
Holly’s videos on this channel provide welcome details on so many relevant topics — from “Perfect Place Settings” to “Christie’s Auction Primer” to “What’s in my Tool Bag.” But my personal favorite? “Southern Cheese Crispies.” Having demurred for so many years when asked for the recipe to mine, I’m thrilled to be able to direct friends to a site with a recipe and a short instructional video! What are friends for? And here you go…
Another of Holly’s videos that is a must-watch is on invitation design and wording (not a topic to take lightly in some situations). Enjoy this following video, “Royal Visit: Part 2 – The Invitation” as a prelude to the occasion for which this elegant invitation was created…”Royal Visit: A Luncheon with Lady Carnarvon.”
Last May, Holly hosted a beautiful luncheon at her home in Farmington, Connecticut for Fiona Carnarvon (the real chatelaine of Highclere, home to Downton Abbey). This exciting event was one of Holly’s first video postings on YouTube (click here). You’ll surely want to see it as our thoughts now turn to spring entertaining.
We’ll all be watching and waiting for the next videos to come. All best wishes, Holly, on your “Classic Design Channel.” Where roads lead us…

Thank you. Video was wonderful!
So happy you’ve been introduced to Holly. She is special!
Great video. I will be anxious to make these!
You will love them, Barbara!
Its not uncommon in “the south” for these wafers to be topped with a pecan….adding another layer of taste. They, along with their cousin the cheese straw are the perfect cocktail nibble!
Thank you so much for sharing Holly! Love your blog and you always share such interesting information! Keep up the interesting articles….
What fun! Following her videos now. Can’t wait to try the cheesy crisps. Thank you.

I was introduced to Holly via a mutual friend. I’m also a big fan of YOURS, Bettie. I live in Texas now, but spent many years in DC/Virginia. I have many, many special memories of White House dinners and White House Christmas parties.
Oops – I didn’t mean to send quite yet. I’d love to see your series on White House entertaining, Bettie.
