The Newport Diary

It’s a Beautiful Day in The Neighborhood

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This perfect early fall weather (and a calmer pace after the freneticism of summer) has prompted many walks around my favorite neighborhoods, each route including one architectural treasure after another. I guess it’s just human nature to take it for granted after a while? On my last walk, though, Mr. Rogers words were suddenly resonating in my mind…”It’s a wonderful day in the neighborhood.” Such a simple statement, but it truly captured how I felt in that moment. So here we go, I’m inviting you along on one of my perambulations

Enjoy the scenes from Cliff Walk (Feature image) to the side streets off Bellevue Avenue to the waterside homes of Ocean Drive.

I came home from one of my walks to this scene. How could I not express the obvious? We couldn’t keep up this landscape and gardens without our Bartlett Tree team!

Hope you’re having delicious weather, too…

  1. These stunning properties and elaborate buildings, set against the drama of the rocky ocean shore never get old. What a golden time of year to view these masterpieces.

    MANY THANKS,
    TOM

  4. Thanks for sharing the beauty of your walks. BEAUTIFUL architecture. We had a tree company that used a large crane to take down 11 huge pine trees in August. It was sad to watch trees being cut down but they were too close to house. I put off cutting down trees for years. It would be interesting to see Tom Gardners home and landscaping since he has worked for Newport residents?? My passions are home and gardens. Enjoy seeing your blog posts, Bettie!
