Merry Christmas From Paris

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

What’s not to love about captivating, romantic, scintillating Paris? But when you add the sparkle of Christmas…well, that begets a whole other list of superlatives. I’m fresh off the plane, checked into my Left Bank hotel, La Fougere, and headed out to start capturing Paris at this magical time of the year…and since it’s Private Newport, I can promise you some surprises! I have my wish list and this first communique’ from France will include a potpourri of sights, both day and night…and top of my list is Place Vendome and the glittering carousel with the backdrop of the Ritz Hotel…who doesn’t have a soft spot for an elegant carousel, as only the French could distinguish it!

  1. We spent Christmas in Paris exactly 20 yrs ago. Have a wonderful time, Bettie. Midnight Mass at Notre Dame is a must!
    Please send details of your adventures.

  2. I’ve never been to Paris, but seeing these photographs makes me want to go. The Chanel building is really something as are all the sites. Have a good time. Keith

  3. oooh la la …A magical way to wake up to see Paris in the lights of Christmastime.

  4. Thank you, Bettie! I’ve been to Paris four times but never in December. Your posts are always a treat but this is extra special.

  5. I look forward to your tales of wandering through Paris! We stayed at the Hotel D’Orsay also on the Left Bank and loved the intimacy of a small hotel within walking distance of everything…crossing the Seine on foot is magical! A highlight for my daughter and I was a visit to La Galerie Dior and then, bien sur, a waltz through Dior on Avenue Montaigne. Enjoy!

  6. LOVELY LADY,
    HAVING BEEN: ‘AN AMERICAN IN PARIS’ (c. 1976-1980 – AS AN ANTIQUES DEALER) -CHRISTMAS IN PARIS, HAS ITS OWN CACHET.
    SADLY, IT RARELY SNOWS IN PARIS FOR CHRISTMAS;
    YET, THE FRENCH -‘HAVE A WAY’ – OF MAKING ‘SNOW’ OPTIONAL.
    MAY YOU AND YOURS HAVE A BLESSED HOLIDAY.

    FONDLY,
    TOM
