The elegance that is Renishaw Hall and Gardens in Derbyshire, England voted “Garden of the Year” in 2015. Immaculately maintained, with garden rooms that enchant and design details to inspire.

Aaah, Merry Ole England, specifically Haddon Hall in Derbyshire. Considered the most important English house to survive from the Middle Ages, it laid dormant for 200 years from the 1700 until the 1920s when it was restored.

Enchanted by my visit to Melbourne Hall in Derbyshire, England, where exists one of the most beguiling follies I’ve ever seen…an arbor “birdcage” created in 1711 by Robert Bakewell for the elegant grounds designed in the manner of Le Notre.

The Dahlia walk at Biddulph Grange is the area that truly resonated for me; the elegant simplicity of the Yew battlements carried out James Bateman’s thinking that each part of the garden must be its own separate world. At the point of every change in gradient, stepped buttresses of hedging jut out to meet the path and appear to support the hedges and enclose the terrace gardens above…a massive green “construction.”Scoot over to today’s blog to check out this masterful garden in Staffordshire, England.
