Thanksgiving ’23

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, my heart is full…not only is my only sibling making her annual “turkey trot” to Newport, but a lifelong friend will also be ensconsed in a guest room this week.

As I was awaiting their arrival, I took a short stroll around the ‘hood, admiring friends’ homes within the backdrop of a colorful fall and imagining their happy gathering on this, everyone’s favorite holiday, wrapped in time-honored traditions. I’ll include a few images as I wish you and yours many reasons to be thankful this day, to be grateful for the small things in life, and to be ever mindful of the silver linings in challenges we face.

As the lights came on I headed home to welcome my houseguests…I am so anticipating Thanksgiving ’23!

Our dressed-up partridge, cloaked in a patchwork of textiles, ribbon, velvet, and feathers. I can never resist the urge to bring an unexpected twist to my dinner tables (he’s also part of the mantle still life in the feature image)!

Happy Thanksgiving from Parterre!

  4. Happy Thanksgiving Bettie to you and your family. One thing I am grateful for is being your following friend online and for all your wonderful posts about the wonderful town of Newport, and all the things you bring to the table for all of us to see and enjoy. Thank you for being you and all that you do. Keith J Morgan

  5. There is so much to be thankful for especially those that live in the wonderful country of the United States. When we think about all of the horrific happenings going on in Israel at this time, my heart just breaks (I have Jewish family) and your beautiful pictures remind us of all that is beautiful and good in this country. Reminds me of how our hearts were breaking a few years back with losing so many loved ones to Covid. Thankful we have a Lord in control.

  6. Oh Bettie, as ever you bring a vision and message of hope and beauty. I simply
love the adorned Partridge…and the opportunity to stroll the neighborhood
