8 New York Townhouses Dressed to the Nines

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

My annual December visit to the Big Apple always includes strolls down the side streets of the city’s Upper East Side, capturing a New York take on decorating for the holidays. Enjoy my findings for 2017, starting with the townhouse above. Who doesn’t love a fan shaped overdoor!

An understated and elegant nod to the holidays.

An exuberant take on holiday decorations.

Every detail has been so elegantly considered, including the magnolia leaves in the garlands.

Don’t you wish you could just slip through this door?

So classic in its Georgian details we could almost be in London.

The side streets of the Upper East Side are a wealth of tasteful holiday decor

Never overlooking an opportunity to dress up the entryways in holiday finery.

Even the reindeer are singing!

A merry way to finish this post…and celebrate the end of 2017.
Wishing you a Happy, Bountiful and Prosperous New Year, filled with good health and good friends.

  1. Bettie – if you like the holiday decorations at townhouses on the Upper East Side, you should come back at Halloween! Quite amazing. I send best wishes to you and Jon for a most happy, healthy 2018. xox VA

  2. Thank you, Bettie, for the lovely pictures! When my daughter resided there, we’d go up at some point during the holiday season and always enjoyed the beautiful decorations. It’s always a treat to see how places away from home celebrate this glorious time of year. Happy (almost)New Year!

  3. LOVED seeing this…almost makes me homesick for NYC….( I wonder how long the decorations lasted before being pinched)….Ah, NY…NY you never disappoint!
Merry New Year to you & Jonathan & Clicquot..we love you!
