When I landed in Nantucket, navigating my way through the charming narrow streets of downtown became a frustrating exercise (there was a funeral and three blocks of the center of town had been closed off and turned into parking lots). The saving grace was that as I inched my way along, I had plenty of time to closely admire the wealth and variety of plant material in the window boxes and containers of almost every shop and house. Not only was everything fresh and well maintained but the designs were sophisticated, both in color selection and varieties of material. My blood pressure went down with every floral vignette I viewed, reminding me again of the many reasons to have a garden…if only in a window box.
I made note at that point to share these on a post; my three day stay was then dedicated to seeking out the best and most inspiring window boxes I could find, whether in downtown or out in the smaller communities of ‘Sconset, Wauwinet and Polpis. Happy planting and planning for next year!
Thank you to the lovely ladies of the Nantucket Garden Club for inviting me to judge their beguiling flower show, “Meet me on Nantucket.”
Absolutely beautiful.
Can’t get enough of this and Nantucket.
Thanking you.
Thanks go to you, Bettie, for traveling to Nantucket to be a judge at our Green Thumb Flower Show. Loved meeting you.
It was my pleasure, indeed!!
Betttie,
What a nice surprise. Flowers are so beautiful all around us if we just slow down, open our eyes, and smell their fragrance.
Without the funeral, you may not have stopped to admire and photograph all those lovely window boxes. They are all so personal and unique.
