Two weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of revisiting a city I had lived in and loved in the late 80s and early 90s…Boston. It was a glorious whirlwind back then – Atlanta, New York, Boston in the space of three years. Ahhh, youth! And what makes it so memorable is that I was able to realize the dream of a girl who had grown up in Beverly Hills — living in a townhouse in a very European-like city, Boston’s Back Bay, no less. I adored this novel experience!…looking out our living room bay window at the island of green running the length of Commonwealth Avenue, ending three blocks away at the Boston Garden…walking everywhere…jogging on the esplanade overlooking the Charles River. Such clear memories even today…
The diversity in architectural styles and building materials, in just a three block length in Back Bay, is a distinguishing note. Needless to say, the economy has been good to residential Boston. It’s clearly time that I create a post (or two) on this worthy topic; I’m feeling an urge to indulge myself on the renovations and the greening of the residences (as so well represented in the feature image).
It’s Fall in New England, Halloween is just around the corner!
Hope you’ve enjoyed this tour as much as I have. Part 2 will be in your email box next Thursday, October 17th. See you then…
Had you written these photographs were in London or New York, I would have nodded my head. What lovely neighborhood of architectural delights these are. I only wish you had shown us the one you inhabited for a year.
