March in Newport is certainly living up to its reputation…”coming in like a lion and going out like a lamb” (I’m anxiously awaiting the lamb part). Sometimes the brightest note in my birthday month is that the 21st is officially the first day of spring! Which leaves me thinking about Florida, specifically Palm Beach and surrounds, so here’s a little teaser of what I’m missing, architecturally, lifestyle, and garden-wise…oftentimes, “behind the hedgerows” (to which the feature image attests).
These are my faves, in no particular order…just the images in my archives that brought a smile to my face and vivid memories flooding back of a paradise singular among Florida enclaves. This is when a picture is truly worth a thousand words.
Happy Spring, and to many more…
Stunning!
And more!! xB
I’m just winding down the winter season in Palm Beach, love seeing how you’ve captured this beautiful town.
Aren’t you going to miss it, Christine?! xB
It is SO fascinating how each State, when you get to know it, is it’s own little “country!” What beautiful portraits you see ( and share!!) franki
SO true, Franki, and Palm Beach in spades is its own little country… for sure! xB
Chic and luciousness to the “Nth” degree!
Atlanta’s March has always been backwards…in like a lamb and out like a lion. On the first day of spring after a “non-winter,” the temperatures went to 29 degrees. Hope your”lamb” arrives soon!
Tall, 29 degrees will kill all the dogwood (that’s what happened a few years ago when I was down seeking spring weather.. Ha, xB
Stunning photographs, Bettie!
Big love! Charlotte
Thnak you, Cha Cha, where are you? xB
LOVELY LADY,
AS THE ‘FORMER’ – 4TH FOOTMAN (AKA JR. BUTLER) @ MAR-A-LAGO – FOR:
MRS. MARJORIE MERRIWEATHER POST c. 1967, YOUR ‘VISTAS’ & DETAILS, AROUSE A HOST OF MEMORIES THAT COULD BE TITLED … ‘MAN MADE – BEAUTY’.
IN A WORLD, OFTEN LESS THAN PLEASANT, YOUR TALENT IS A MAGICAL GIFT.
MERCY BUCKETS!
TOM
I think you should pen a post on PB!! xB
TO: ALL FRIENDS OF BEAUTY –
HAVING WORKED FOR MRS. MERRIWEATHER POST AT BOTH MAR-A-LAGO AND ‘HILLWOOD’ (HER WASHINGTON., D.C. -RESIDENCE), THE EXPERIENCE WAS (ALMOST) BEYOND DESCRIPTION.
AS 4TH FOOTMAN, AKA JR. BUTLER, SERVING FORMAL DINNERS WAS AS CLOSE TO ‘THE GILDED AGE’ AS THE 1960’s
EVER CAME.
THERE WERE FORTY-FIVE OF US -IN STAFF- EVEN WHEN THERE WERE BUT THREE OR FOUR ‘HOUSE’ GUESTS.
MRS. POST’S FAMOUS -‘SQUARE AND ROUND’, DINNER DANCE, (EVERY THUR.) FOR OVER 80 TO 100 GUESTS WAS MAGICAL.
IT WAS A TIME THAT WAS NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN; WE JUST DIDN’T KNOW IT AT THE TIME.
I WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE A PB POLICE ‘ID’ CARD ON MY PERSON, SHOULD I BE ‘OUT’ AFTER DARK AND WALKING ON
SOUTH OCEAN BLVD. ON MY WAY HOME FROM FRIENDS.
WHILE MRS. POST, PERHAPS MY MOST ‘NOTED’ PERSONALITY
– MY TEN OTHER LADIES – EACH HAD THEIR OWN ‘PERSONA’.
FOR FUN, FIRST GOOGLE:
