Past Christmases at Parterre

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In spite of 2020 being an “annus horribilis” (to quote Queen Elizabeth) we’ve made it to the merry month of December. So I say, with a nod to rhythm and rhyme….

Let’s gather our ribbon, garland and bows, play those old carols and watch spirits grow!

If you’re not already “there,” inspiration abounds, at Parterre so festive with magic and sounds.

From the front steps to the stairway to mantles galore, decorating at Parterre proves that less is not more.

Christmas is not cancelled. And neither is hope. Chin up, with a smile…I know we can cope.

Just as we did the year the snows came before we could take down our front door decorations.

Stay tuned…on my Christmas Eve blog, you’ll have a chance to see Parterre dressed for Christmas 2020…

  1. Thank you for this wander thru your Christmas cheer. It is indeed annus horribilis, but to have a garden and a view of the sky is a treasure. Stay safe, be well, and enjoy every moment.

    1. Oh Linda, aren’t we lucky that we so appreciate the power and healing properties of a garden?! Happy trails to you, Merry, Merry, Bettie

    1. Merry, Merry Lisa…I’ll be sending more snow-y images once the weather moves that way…xB

    1. Hello Keith, welcome to Private Newport…and many thanks for your lovely comment. Merry, Merry to you and yours, Bettie

  2. Bettie-

I love the evergreen garlands – so naturally beautiful they don’t need much decorating. How do you keep them from drying out?

    Thanks and regards-

    Lauren

    1. Uh oh, I guess I have to be honest…I don’t know how to keep them from drying out. Having them handmade right before putting them up (which I’m always late in doing) I’ve found to be better than buying them from a center or flower mart where they’re weeks old when you get them. Merry, Merry Bettie

  3. Among many treats, The photograph of the champagne glass with the candle light scintillating in the bubbles is a celebration gem in itself. You always come up with such surprises all year round! I’ll drink a glass to your good health xx Cat

    1. How thoughtful of you to watch the tour! Thank you and may yours be a merry few days in spite of all that is going on…we must keep our spirits up! xB
