The “unofficial” start of the Newport Summer Season is the Friday opening night party for the Newport Flower Show. Coming as it does at the almost end of June (22nd-24th), the show brings with it the promise that we can indeed break out our summer wardrobe. The weekend is a display of color from floral arrangments within the rooms of Rosecliff (above) to the garden exhibits and finally to the clothes that are worn by the attendees. (Note: you can also add to your wardrobe from a number of boutqiues on the back lawn.)

Just for fun, I’ve styled three looks that could be worn to one of each of the three day events — the Opening Night Party (Friday), the Luncheon-Lecture (Saturday) and the Champagne Jazz Brunch (Sunday). I love the creativity in mixing high and low (i.e. Jimmy Choo and Anthropologie).  And there’s such good design out there from the “Fast Fashion” companies, like Zara, to the online retailers, like Net-a-Porter. I’m so enjoying the long looks that are out and about today! Of course my selections are all garden-inspired…
